Nestled snugly in the Elk Mountains, Vail is justly famous internationally for its skiing, which is among the best available anywhere with the possible exception of remote skiing via helicopter drop in places like Chile (yes, there are people who do that sort of thing). For the rest of us, Vail is where the action is at. It is not just a ski resort though, but rather a full service destination with a huge range of other activities to choose from.
