Only a short distance from the untamed beauty of the Florida Everglades, Naples, perched on the Gulf of Mexico, offers both nature and comfort. Excellent shopping, dining, and world class golf facilities distinguish the city. Of course, this is Florida, and perennially sunny beaches are also a great way to pass the time in Naples.

A couple of sports for which Naples is justly famous are golf and fishing. It is said that the city has the highest ratio of golf courses to golfers anywhere--whatever the case, the exceptional quality of its more than 35 courses will challenge anyone. Fishing is also superb here, and you have the choice of chartering a boat and looking for the big one, or casting your line off of the pier and seeing what its crystal clear waters yield.

Naples also offers a wide variety of shops to choose from. Small and frequently exclusive boutique stores are clustered around the Bayfront and Venetian Village areas. For large shopping malls, the Coastland Center Mall and Waterside Shops are good facilities with an array of choices.

In addition to its fine recreation, Naples, unlike many Florida destinations, also displays a fair amount of cultural sophistication. The Philharmonic Center for the Arts and the Dinner Theatre are both popular. You can also take a trolley tour and learn about the region's history.
