Guide To Orlando
There's no doubt that there are a lot of characters in Orlando .and that includes in the restaurants too! Everyone's favorite TV chef Emeril now has his own restaurant at Universal Orlando and it's quite the showplace - with a 12,000-bottle wine gallery - and there is also a Wolfgang Puck Café in Downtown Disney.

One of the first dining extravaganzas that everyone is concerned with is making sure the little ones dine with the characters. There are a few choices in this arena for children eight and under, but some offer family dining as well:

1900 Park Fare hosts character breakfasts with Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland while Winnie the Pooh and friends pop up at dinner. If you want a more regal experience, Cinderella's Royal Table in the infamous Disney icon, the Castle, welcomes visitors for breakfast. Chef Mickey's hosts buffet-style breakfasts and dinners with Mickey and friends, while the Liberty Tree Tavern is a colonial, 18 th -century style pub with family style meals hosted by Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip 'n' Dale.

If you want a break outside the park - or are in town on business and need to entertain clients - Orlando does have a selection of fine dining establishments along International Drive . Universal Orlando is also a good spot for dining and the Sleep Inn & Suites Universal and Comfort Suites Universal are right nearby.

Many hotels themselves have good deals or good dining nearby. For example, the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista offers in-room pizza delivery service, while the Radisson Inn Lake Buena Vista provides an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, and the Hawthorn Suites Universal has a free full hot breakfast for guests. If you are at the Hawthorn Suites Airport , they provide complimentary transportation to any of the restaurants in the area. And if you've got a hankering for pancakes, the Days Inn Orlando Airport has its own International House of Pancakes onsite. The Sleep Inn Convention Center offers a complimentary deluxe Continental breakfast to guests so you can always save money on breakfast. And the Radisson Resort Parkway has a "Kids Eat Free" program which is always welcome.

One of the great things about Orlando is that because it attracts so many international travelers, there is an incredible diversity in terms of the cuisine. You will find Italian, barbecue, tapas, French, Cuban, American, Californian, Scandinavian, 50's-style diner, Caribbean , Chinese, and more - and that's not even inside the parks! The World Showcase at EPCOT has 11 miniature nations each of which features its own restaurant. The Germany Pavilion, for example, has an outdoor biergarten with a year-round Ocktoberfest, while the United Kingdom Pavilion has a traditional British pub.

All Disney-related restaurants don't take reservations in advance. Instead, you need to make a "Priority Seating Reservation" by calling (407) 939-3463 and you will get the next available table when you arrive.

Finally, if you've got finicky kids who only eat certain things - or you want to save money by cooking some of your own meals - a number of properties like the Oak Plantation and the Hawthorn Suites Airport have a full-kitchen in their accommodations enabling you to make breakfast, keep some snacks at the ready, or even cook a real dinner.
