Though those who haven't been there yet may hold an unfair view of Pittsburgh as an industrial center on a par with northern New Jersey, rest assured that today, Pittsburgh is again a primetime destination. The birthplace of Andy Warhol, it is a thriving center of culture and art that has largely overcome the social upheaval that followed the decline of its traditional steel industry in the 1960s. The decline of the steel industry may actually have been a blessing in disguise, as today Pittsburgh is cleaner, greener, and more economically diversified than at any other time in its modern history.
