The capital of the confederacy during the Civil War, Richmond is today a city that while modern and full of progress, still lives and breathes the terrible conflict that ended a century and a half ago. A dizzying array of historic sites and buildings make it impossible for the visitor to forget this fact. The city also boasts one of the best art museums in the country as well as some great examples of modern urban development.
