Guide To Seattle
After all the sight seeing, shopping and urban hiking that fills your days in Seattle,After all the sight seeing, shopping and urban hiking that fills your days in Seattle, it is possible that you won't have any energy left for the nightlife. Maybe you'll be too tired to even think of going out. If you're staying at the Best Western Executive Inn, a long soak in the whirlpool might rejuvenate you for the evening ahead. Guests at the Red Lion on Fifth Avenue can also receive vouchers for an offsite pool and spa at the front desk.

Just trying to decide what to do will be difficult. Take music for example. There are concerts and other programs at the EMP nearly every night, not to mention quality acts at the Paramount , the 5th Avenue Theater , Dmitriou's Jazz Alley , the Moore Theater and Benaroya Hall , and that doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the local club and music scene.

Then there is Pioneer Square with its thriving music, gallery, and theater district, as well as some of the city's oldest bars in the J&M Cafe , the Central Saloon , the New Orleans Restaurant and Bar and the Historic Triangle Pub. You could take advantage of the joint cover offered on some nights to visit all the music clubs in the neighborhood for one low price.

If you're in the mood for something a little more sophisticated, then you'll have to choose between the opera , the symphony , and the ballet . Or maybe a play at one of the many neighborhood theaters located throughout the city. There is a summer Shakespeare series at the amphitheater on Greenlake. ACT , the Bathhouse , and the Empty Space are also known for their quality productions. There are also several great summer concert series in Summer Nights at the Pier , Zoo Tunes , Concerts at Marymoor , and at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery

If you're lucky, you'll catch the Seattle International Film Festival , Bumbershoot , or one of the other local film festivals . If not, pick up a schedule for the classic art and foreign films screened daily at the Egyptian Theater on Capitol Hill and the Varsity Theater in the University District, or visit one of the many multi-plex theaters located conveniently around town.

If you're staying at the Roosevelt , the Vance, Sorrento 's, the Warwick , or the Claremont , you'll be centrally located to the Seattle Center , Pioneer Square , downtown, and the Capitol Hill club and bar scene. The number of entertainment options that you have available to you may seem overwhelming. So if you do only one thing to experience Seattle 's diverse and interesting nightlife, then go hear Howard Bulson play at the Mirabeau Room.

Formerly known as Sorry Charlies, the Mirabeau has re-opened under new ownership, but has wisely decided to continue to offer Howard's timeless piano playing six nights a week. To call the Mirabeau an out of the way place is being a bit kind, as it is still a humble and aging neighborhood bar, even under new ownership. But what makes it special are the talented regulars and local patrons of the symphony and opera that often stop by and join Howard for a song or two when the evening's performance lets out. He is a Seattle icon and there is nothing else quite like his spontaneous rendering of so many classic jazz and blues standards.

So if you have any energy left at the end of the day, go enjoy one of the many wonderful nightlife activities offered around the city, but take my advice and be sure to drop by the Mirabeau Room for a nightcap.
