Sydney

Sydney is one of the most visited cities in the world, despite being relatively far away from the US and Europe. If you take your family to Sydney, your most difficult decision will be deciding which activity or attraction to leave out of your itinerary.

Sydney Harbor
The most famous icons of Sydney, the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House, are both located on Sydney Harbour in the center of the city. There are plenty of options for seeing these famous sights. If your children are10 years old or over, they can join you for the famous Bridge Climb and see Sydney from the top of its most famous bridge - a safe but adventurous day out. You can also tour the opera house or  see a show there.  A harbor cruise is another great option, and you can get plenty of good photos from the water.

Koalas and kangaroos
The Taronga Zoo is on the edge of Sydney Harbour –you can take a ferry there. It’s a world-class zoo with a full collection both of Australian native animals and others. Over at Darling Harbour you can visit the relatively new Sydney Wildlife World which concentrates more on Australian animals and has a particularly good koala sanctuary and breeding program. Families who want to check out what’s living in the water, can go to the Sydney Aquarium, also at Darling Harbour.

Sunshine and beaches
The image we have of Sydney as a city of sunshine and beautiful white beaches is pretty close to the truth. On average, Sydney has more than 20 sunny days per month with at least seven hours of sunshine all year round; and the beaches are beautiful even on a cloudy day. Join Sydneysiders at the famous Bondi Beach for a swim or take the ferry over to Manly Beach where you can buy some of the famous Manly fish and chips and eat them on the beach. There is plenty of space for kids to play.
