BC Skiing

Heading into Canada for a ski vacation this winter? Check out our list of some of the best ski resorts in British Columbia to help you plan your trip.

Whistler-Blackcomb Resort: Easily the most famous of the western Canada ski resorts, Whistler-Blackcomb is also the largest ski resort in North America. At the moment you can access either mountain from gondolas in the village of Whistler. But within the next year or so the plan is to open a peak-to-peak gondola that will connect the mountains to each other. Whistler will be the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics; so there’s a lot going on there right now. You’ll have to decide whether the Olympic preparations will be a distraction or an attraction.

Fernie Alpine Resort: This resort is reputed to get the highest annual snowfall of anywhere in the Canadian Rockies, which makes its powder skiing fantastic.

Grouse Mountain: Convenient to Vancouver, Grouse Mountain is well known for its training program for young skiers, but it’s suitable for all.

Big White Ski Resort: Located southeast of Kelowna, this is the second largest resort in BC. There are 38 acres of night skiing as well as a large terrain park with jumps, boxes and half-pipes.
