A family vacation in Vancouver, British Colombia gives you plenty of possibilities for keeping everyone happy and entertained. There are outdoor and physical activities to use up energy, and attractions like the Vancouver Aquarium or the Museum of Anthropology that have something to suit all ages.

Vancouver Aquarium: Often referred to as VanAqua by locals, the almost 60-year-old Vancouver Aquarium was set up by a group of fishery and oceanography professors. The first aquarium to hire scientists to interpret animal behavior and to emphasize natural behavior over spectacular shows; it’s one of the most informative and interesting aquariums out there. Home to sea otters, sea lions and many others–you can even sign up for a behind-the-scenes meeting with the beluga whales.

Stanley Park: One of the loveliest things about Vancouver is that the 1,000-acre Stanley Park is so close to downtown. It’s home to some truly beautiful gardens and heaps of restaurants and cafes. You can take in an art performance or class and participate in sports such as rollerblading and cycling. There is also a free Stanley Park Shuttle Bus to take you to various destinations around the park. You can easily spend a whole day exploring Stanley Park.

University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology: The MOA is a fascinating place to visit for visitors of all ages. The building and its surroundings are lovely, and inside you’ll find exhibits that focus on promoting understanding among the world’s cultures. The museum has a large collection of objects from Canada’s indigenous peoples, known as the First Nations. You can see archaeological artifacts, paintings and totem poles as well as modern modern objects. There are also programs that allow visitors to see dance performances or hear artists speak about their work.

Capilano Suspension Bridge: Millions of visitors have crossed the Capilano Suspension Bridge since it was first built in 1889. The bridge stretches out among the treetops 230 feet above the Capilano River. Again, it’s very close to downtown Vancouver, yet once you’re up walking across a bridge through tall trees you’ll feel like you’re hours from urban civilization. The park’s latest attraction, Treetops Adventure, features seven suspension bridges running through unspoiled rainforest; guided nature tours are available. At Totem Park you can see totem poles and carving demonstrations.
