Whatever your interests, there’s probably something to amuse you in a diverse town like Salt Lake City. Here are just a few of the key attractions the capital of Utah has to offer:

  • Temple Square. Since Salt Lake City is the headquarters for the Church of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), a main attraction is the Temple Square, the largest of the many LDS sights around the city. It includes the Salt Lake Temple and free visitor centers.
  • Fort Douglas Military Museum. This museum is housed in three historic buildings on the campus of the University of Utah, and includes a cannon and tank park. It’s currently being expanded to house new exhibits on Utah’s military history and to have areas for conferences and social events.
  • Utah State Capitol Building. This is not only an architectural highlight, but also home to the Governor of Utah and the state legislature, and has great views across the mountains and the valley.
  • Off Broadway Theater. In Main Street, the OBT is a popular venue for comedy, improvisations and Broadway-style shows, and it’s housed in the attractive and historic Clift Building.
  • Museum of Church History and Art. Another of the Latter-Day Saints sightseeing spots, this museum includes art, documents, models and artifacts which trace the LDS history since 1820; admission is free.
