Whether you are traveling on vacation or business, it can be annoying to find all your clothes wrinkled when you arrive at your destination. Though you can’t avoid wrinkles completely, here are some tips to help you reduce wrinkles.
- Pack light. When you overpack, your clothes will wrinkle. Only bring the necessities with you. If you find you have too many items, bring an additional suitcase rather than overpack.
- Pack shoes and heavier items at the bottom of the bag. The bottom of the bag is defined as the bottom when your suitcase is standing up - not the bottom layer when you are packing.
- Place tissue paper between your clothing. The paper will cause less friction between clothes, leading to less wrinkling. When you put clothes in your garment bag, leave the plastic dry cleaner bags on them for this same reason.
- Fill in gaps. If you have too many gaps between items in your suitcase, your clothes will shift and become wrinkled. Fill in the gaps with rolled socks and t-shirts.
- Look for “wrinkle-free” fabrics. Many clothing manufacturers use wrinkle-resistant cotton, which is ideal for traveling. Knits and jersey fabrics are also great choices.
If all else fails, you can always find a pressing service at your destination. However these tips should help reduce wrinkling significantly.
