Fall is the perfect time to travel to Mexico City thanks to good weather and fall celebrations geared towards the family.
After Halloween comes Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, the day when Mexico City honors the dead. Children are commemorated November 1, All Saints Day, and adults are remembered on November 2, All Souls Day. It may sound morbid but this holiday is actually filled with a celebratory air. Parades, cultural fiestas and special foods all add to the holiday. Dia de los Muertos also celebrates the Native American cultures of the region so it really does give you and your family a chance to learn a great deal of the area’s history.
Even if you don’t make it to Dia de los Muertos, fall is still a great time to take your family there. The weather features moderately warm days of around 70 degrees and nights in the 50-degree range, which makes it great for walking. The city is rich with history and you’ll learn a lot about the Aztec, Mayan and other ancient cultures of the region.
Mexico City is also a very modern city. Your family will find all the amenities at the city’s ,many modern hotels. And it’s relatively easy to get away from the city and enjoy the neighboring countryside which is ripe with colorful nature that fall foliage at this time of year.
